Welcome to our wrap up of Season One, and looking forward to next year, and an explosive start to Season Two!
We want to take the opportunity to thank everyone for your love and support over the last year. When we first started out, we didn’t know how we were going to make these videos, how well they would be received (or not!) and really we were just throwing every idea we had out there and seeing what stuck.
Humbled by the viewing numbers of our first video, we ploughed onwards to creating further episodes, learning the techniques of YouTube and “building your audience”. Now, with Episode 10 under our belt, we can look back and say we have achieved way more than we ever could have dreamed.
Our most popular video was with Keith and his highly modified 93 Saloon. The detail he had on all the changes he had made allowed the episode to become highly interesting to many people, linking us up to many saab parts and tuning specialists. The video is getting thousands of views and continues to climb.
we have made so many friendships through our channel, with many calling our names as we arrive at Saab meets, and some becoming lifelong friendships - even helping us out when earlier this year we experienced a fault with our Ignition Switch Module, which rendered the car inoperable for a few days. - Thanks Andy for your help and comfort at the airfield meet, and foremost to Terry (fellow Lime owner) for offering up his expertise and time for free to get us back on the road. Also to Simon Butyn for supplying the part!
Thanks and Friendships
In our first year of owning a Saab and starting our channel, we have met with so many wonderful and helpful people, through Saab meets, online groups and forums, and word of mouth. Without these people, we wouldn’t be able to make the content we do, and as new Saab owners we have to say it feels deeply comforting to have so much help and support should we need it (and sometimes we have needed it!)
Andrew, for your photos, friendship and support your can-do attitude that truly gets stuff done!
Olly and Lauren - for your time spent with us during our interview, and our chats since! We can’t wait to take a look at that barn find!
Barry - since first working with you on camera we have grown to be good friends and it’s so lovely to have another passionate Saab owner so nearby. Your Saab is a beauty and I hope it continues to give you that smile for many years to come!
John B - you’ve always got time for us, you welcome us when we arrive to meets, you make us and everyone around you feel welcome and appreciated. Your pointers on car parts and particularly those wheel nuts have been greatly appreciated! Also, that convoy we achieved for Swedish Day was pretty awesome eh!
Christian - there for our first ever episode, we knew after meeting you that we were on the right track. Your kindness and willingness to share your personal story convinced us we were doing something worthwhile.
Last but not least, my dad, Bill Bruce. Current owner of an immaculate (lightly tuned!) 93 Aero convertible, he is the reason I love and now own a Saab. My earliest car memory is sat in the middle seat of the back of Dads 9000 CSE, and every saab ever since. I adore that you have stuck with the brand for so many years, and whilst they have had their issues I can now understand as an owner how these quirky Swedish automobiles can get under your skin and into your heart. Thanks dad, can’t wait for spring so we can go for more “roof down road trips” together x
Our Saab friends list is so massive, and we would struggle to thank every one of you, but we hope you know the impact you have had on our own Saab Story. Thank you for making us feel so welcomed.
Looking forward
Season Two kicks off in just over a weeks time with an incredible piece documenting the final days of Saab Specialist and Dealership, Two Stroke to Turbo, who after 40 years in the trade serving the saab community are now closing their doors for good.
An end of a legacy.
Join us in 2025 for the newest episode, and one we believe will touch the hearts of the entire Saab community. In ep10 we chat with the owner Michael, and hear his thoughts on the journey of the Saab brand, the continued desirability of these cars, and the future. But for Michael, these are the final days of Two Stroke and we are honoured to be given a behind the scenes look into what has made this place a true Saab Sanctuary for so many years
See you soon, and we hope you have a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
Peter and Freya
Saab Stories
Congratulations Peter and Freya. We met at the Ace Cafe a few weeks back.
My personal Saab history started when I saw in 1995 a number of Saab 96s parked around the streets of Notting Hill, where I was born and lived for a few decades.
Fascinated by the shape, I then vowed to own one. Having moved to Oxford, in 1995, I bought a cream coloured 96 from the now defunct Belsyre Garage, a Saab shrine.
Then I had a Souvenir in the red of that series, followed by a green 900i 16v that I took to Amsterdam for two years. That car is now in Glastonbury with friends, parked up and very slowly disintegrating. A brilliant car and still largely intact. Anyone interested?
Eventually, I bought my present Saab - a Vector 9-3 convertible in electric blue -
and, even earlier, a 1988 900i 8v, also at the same Glastonbury address, as it is non ULEZ compliant for London. In three years, it will become a historic vehicle.
From Saab, I have had nothing but joy, security, adventure and an enthralling driving experience.
Saab owners are - usually - a breed apart.
Robert.
I could not find a way of sending a few good photos on Substack of the Saabs I have owned and loved. Any other means of doing so?
