Saab Safety Saves Lives
Behind the gates of an independent breakers yard, and the story of a father who’s sons life was saved by the cars he loves.
In our latest episode we take a visit to a local independent saab breakers yard run by a father who not only admires the brand, but also set an example to his son by putting him behind the wheel of a saab the very moment he passed his driving test.
Driving up to the yard somewhere near Wisbech, we met with Dave, and found that not only did he have some incredibly interesting examples on hand, but also a host of fascinating stories behind every one.
The yard is littered with Saabs in various conditions, panels missing, headlights gone and more. A graveyard that serves to provide donor parts from every model therein.
One particular car took our interest, and as you will find in our episode, the 93 pictured sacrificed its own life to save the life of the driver.
A scary scene, but knowing they walked away is a reminder we need that Saabs were built with safety at the forefront. We are lucky to drive these vehicles.
Dave was extremely welcoming and as we walked amongst the cars, seeing customers taking parts they needed, going about the vehicles and doing business with him, we knew that Dave was not only an excellent businessman, but also a man with heart and kindness. Someone passionate for the brand, and motivated to keep people behind the wheel of Saab’s for as long as possible, one part at a time.
